Croton Skeleton Automatic

INQUIRE

Here is an extremely rare Croton skeleton automatic watch from the early 2000s. The watch features an all polished stainless steel construction with an octagonal bezel reminiscent of Gerald Genta designs from the 1970s. The integrated steel bracelet is a 3-piece design with a double deployant clasp wearing very securely on the wrist. Inside, a skeletonized Japanese movement is visible beating at a modern 21,600 VPH through the sapphire display caseback.

Originally founded in 1878 in southern Italy, Croton re-established its headquarters to New Jersey in the early 20th century. In the mid-1950s, the brand established a close partnership with the Grenchen, Switzerland based brand Nivada, eventually becoming the primary US distributor for the brand. Watches sold through this import channel were branded under an assortment of tradenames, including Nivada Croton and Croton Nivada Grenchen, given the phonetic similarity to the mid-century powerhouse Movado.
