Watch runs but stops, service is required. Time sets and automatic movement intermittently but becomes stuck at specific intervals

Founded in 1791, Girard-Perregaux traces its origins to Jean-François Bautte, a prodigious Genevan watchmaker who began signing his own creations at an early age of 19. Bautee, a goldsmith, engraver, and jeweler, was among the first to bring multiple specialized crafts—movement making, case work, engraving, and jewelry—together under one roof. His elaborately decorated timepieces, including miniature musical watches and perfume guns, were highly sought after by aristocrats and collectors.

In 1856, Constant Girard—himself born into a family of artisans—merged his technical ambitions with the Perregaux family through marriage, giving rise to the Maison Girard-Perregaux. Fascinated by the tourbillon, Girard transformed its structure into the Three Bridges design, turning normally hidden movement parts into a visible, elegant feature that blended precision with artistry and set a new standard in watchmaking. With a legacy of in-house research and technical achievement, Girard-Perregaux embodies the belief that precision engineering can also be an art form.
