Founded in Chicago in 2025, Petals & Pinions is a curated gallery of vintage and pre-owned watches designed to showcase unique and interesting timepieces. Our name reflects the balance present in every great watch: Petals for artistic beauty, and Pinions for engineering ingenuity.
Since 2011, our founder Jack has collected, restored, and re-homed nearly 100 watches across a broad range of categories and eras, from historic chain-driven fusees to modern spring drive quartz. Jack originally sold watches on eBay as yellow_gecko and later on Chrono24 and Facebook Marketplace. We currently maintain an eBay store petals_and_pinions with 300+ positive feedback.
Jack’s love of watches began in high school. What started as a simple habit—dressing more thoughtfully—grew into a deeper appreciation for time itself, and especially for timepieces made to endure generations. He began discovering interesting references at estate sales and second-hand stores, teaching himself to repair and restore them.
As his passion grew, so did his collection. Realizing he didn’t need so many watches, Jack began sharing them with others who would appreciate their character and history—objects that connect people meaningfully to the past. One piece, a rare Omega 50th Anniversary Chicago Tribune, found its way to a retired newsperson, a small but powerful link to a lifetime of work and memory.
